2020 KTM EXC DEMO DAY RUNDOWN @ PACIFIC PARK, AUGUST 2019

Motorcycles

One of the best parts of running a bike store is that we get to share our passion with our customers. Demo days are an awesome opportunity to directly engage with you, get you out on the new bikes and have you make an informed decision on your bike investment. It also allows the opportunity for you to meet our factory-trained technicians and get their perspective on the bikes, along with valuable technical advice.

Once signed up, each customer gets the opportunity to ride at least 3 bikes if they choose to. Some customers know they want to compare two particular models and won’t bother riding anything else, whilst others are only at the start of their purchasing journey and want to know what more of the KTM range has to offer. We ensure that you receive at least 15 minutes on the bike on an enduro-style track so you can gauge what each model has to offer, and how this suits you and your style and level of riding. The bikes are tested on sandy open track, tight hard-packed sections, greasy slippery clay and rocky slopes and creek beds.

"The whole day was completely enjoyable – it gave me so much insight and Rod was incredible with his attention and coaching tips! Well worth the money to go out there." - Joanne H.

This demo day had Sutto’s take over Pacific Park with over 50 people on-site and 15 KTM EXC’s dominating the tracks. The model line-up included the MY19 250 and 300 EXC TPI, and the 350, 450 and 500 EXC-F; MY20 150, 250 and 300 EXC TPI, and 250, 350, 450 and 500 EXC-F. There was also a couple of extra models fitted with WP Suspension Xplor Pro Forks, Cone Valve Forks and Trax Shocks. Our in-house suspension specialist Ben from SRD Suspension was on-site to guide customers through the WP Suspension Range and to advise on what upgrade options there are to increase the safety and handling of stock suspension. Sutto's was also fortunate enough to have a couple of talented customers and sponsored riders on-site to sweep ride, pass-on riding tips and to offer greater perspective on the new line-up.

"The timed sessions made the day flow well, and having a lead and sweep rider kept everyone organised and moving so we could use our time productively on the bikes." - Paul L.

Rider Feedback

BIKES RIDDEN: 2020 150 EXC, 250 EXC-F.

CURRENTLY RIDES: WR 250.

I started off being sold on the 150 EXC TPI, it was so light and the lack of engine breaking was fun on open corners. Once I jumped on the 250 EXC-F I realised this was the bike for me! The front end handling was great, the hydraulic clutch made a huge difference and the power delivery to labour uphills suited me better. The whole day was completely enjoyable – it gave me so much insight and Rod was incredible with his attention and coaching tips! Well worth the money to go out there.

BIKES RIDDEN: 2020 300 EXC TPI; 2019 250 EXC TPI, 250 EXCF.

CURRENTLY RIDES: RMZ 250.

The 250 EXC-F felt like home to me because I currently ride a 250 4-Stroke. I love how light it is, and easy to throw around and move the bike to where I need it to be. It’s torquey to the ground and didn’t want to lift the front wheel on me. Between the 2-Strokes I would hands down take the 300 EXC TPI – I feel it can tractor over obstacles without slipping out on me and spinning wheels. The handling is great and it has a lot of go, whilst feeling like a 4-Stroke that can track to the ground. The 250 2-Stroke felt more like it had the traditional peaky power of the 2-Stroke, whilst the 300 has more usable power and a smoother delivery. The timed sessions made the day flow well, and having a lead and sweep rider kept everyone organised and moving so we could use our time productively on the bikes.

BIKES RIDDEN: 2020 250 300 EXC TPI, 350 450 EXCF; 2019 250 EXC TPI, 350 EXC-F.

CURRENTLY RIDES: 2016 350 EXCF.

My pick of the day was the 250 EXC TPI – I actually preferred the 19 over the 20 because of the stiffer standard set-up on the 19 – it suited my riding style better. I went back and rode this bike a couple of times – it’s easy to ride, perfect power range and rolls over obstacles. It’s like riding a big mountain bike. The 300 is much the same but has extra power that I don’t need – I ride a lot of tight single trail and the 250 is great for this. If I rode more open trail it would be a tough decision between the 350 and 450 EXC-F, the 450 is a real gentleman’s bike! The 350 that Sutto’s has mapped was better again, and the Trax shock that they have custom valved made an incredible difference. There were plenty of bikes to ride, plenty of time to ride each and it was a great way to ensure I am happy with my choice.
