With a sledgehammer hit of 160 hp and a massive 138 Nm of earth-twisting torque, the proven V-twin LC8 engine once again takes the accolades as the most compact, lightest and best performing engine in the segment.
A new, reworked, and lightweight, chrome-moly stainless steel trellis frame featuring laser-cut tubes, combines with forged elements for an ultra-strong component on the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R. The steering head has been moved 15mm rearwards, to shorten the overall frame for improved cornering behaviour, while the front engine mount has been rotated forward by 2 degrees to aid in hard acceleration, keeping the front end firmly planted on the ground.
Wide, adjustable, and ready for long hours in the saddle, the high-strength tapered aluminium handlebars are designed to provide riders with greater control, and uncompromised comfort. Newly developed and robust handguards have also been designed for optimal aerodynamic behaviour, when it comes to high-speed stability.
Taking charge at the helm is an all-new scratch resistant 7-inch TFT display. Unmatched in terms of graphics and readability, adventurers can access information on the fly, quickly and easily without navigating complex menus. This comes thanks to a 6-way switch cube on the handlebar and the new quick select and favourites buttons. Connectivity is also taken care of by way of KTM MY RIDE, which connects via Bluetooth for turn-by-turn navigation, music, and even answering calls.

A robust 48 mm inverted fork with extra stiff springs is mounted up front, while a PDS shock absorber produces the magic in the rear. All made by WP, all fully adjustable, all happy to take a serious beating. And they’ll make you enjoy it too.
The KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R is more than just light, powerful and dependable. Thanks to low fuel consumption, a 23-liter fuel tank and 15,000 km service intervals it also hardly ever needs to take a break.
The chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame is at the centre of the bike’s excellent robust chassis. Laser-cut and robot welded with a superb surface finish keeping the total unfueled weight at an impressively low 221 kg. All muscle, no fat.
Serious offroad exploration demands hardcore equipment, so we fit the KTM 1290 SUPER ADVENTURE R in-house with our patented, tubeless, wire-spoked wheels. 21 inches up front and 18 inches in the rear, they combine all the benefits of a tubeless tire (easy fitment and weight saving due to the lack of an inner tube) with the stability and robustness of a wire-spoked wheel. This set-up makes the SUPER ADVENTURE R's rims substantially more resilient than all the competition's cast and spoked wheels.
Precise. Powerful. Consistent. Just as you would expect from a set of BREMBO brakes. Up front you’ll find twin 320 mm diameter discs, which are radially mounted, plus 4-piston fixed calipers. At the rear, excess speed is taken care of by a generously dimensioned 267 mm diameter disc.
