How to choose the best KTM bike for me

Motorcycles

You know you want a KTM. Great news, and excellent choice! You’ve probably then done some comparative research between brands to narrow it down to the KTM, so now it’s time to find out which KTM is going to work for you. The best way to start that process is asking yourself a few questions (and, of course, answering them), about how, when and why you will use it, along with other financial and practical considerations. Let’s find you a KTM…

Why do I want a KTM?

How did you get to this decision? What made you decide on a KTM? This will help you figure out what it is about the KTM that appeals, and so which KTMs offer the best version of that. For example, did KTMs come up as the best off road bike option for you? Was this because of its powerful four stroke engine, light frame and manoeuvrability? In that case, opt in for something like the KTM 250 SX-F (smallest and lightest in their range).

What level of skill and experience do I have?

Are you a highly skilled and experienced rider? Or are you a novice? The power and control of a bike is going to be a huge factor not only in giving you what you’re after (freedom to be more adventurous with your rides, or ability to really learn on something that isn’t going to be too much too soon). So, for more experienced riders, it might be best to choose a two-stroke like the exceptional KTM 250 EXC TPI, being one of the lightest and most agile on the market. If you're learning, a smoother, easier ride can be found in a four-stroke which novice riders should find more intuitive to handle with limited experience. Or, if you’re an onroad rider, a KTM 200 Duke is an approved bike for learners and is renowned for its comfort, easy handling and high-tech design.

What’s my budget?

This could be the most important part of the decision making process because while all bikes are a sound investment, there’s no fun in living outside of your means. The beauty is, you can get everything you’re looking for without having to leave your budget bracket. We have some incredibly affordable KTMs that are for all terrain and can transition from novice to seasoned rider with ease, and none feeling as though they’re missing out. Our KTMs range from just over $5k up to just over $18k, with a lot landing somewhere in between. Also, with some caveats in place, you are able to legally ride dirt bikes on road, so you can find a bike with dual capacity which can help with costs (fun weekend activity, but also a more cost-effective method of commuting).

Sutto’s also offer a range of instore finance and insurance options, including variable and repayment plans (our quotes won’t affect your credit rating either!).

If you have more questions about why you should buy a certain model of KTM that’s right for you, and other considerations you should be making when buying a bike in general (such as understanding maintenance requirements of a KTM), talk to our friendly team today!

We have a huge range of KTM motorcycles ready to go, and are more than happy to support whatever you need to make the right decision.
